North Korea on the verge of a major crisis.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has urged his citizens to prepare for a difficult crisis, comparing the situation to an infamous famine of the 1990s. This depression is mainly caused by shutting the borders with China, North Korea's economic lifeline, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The country has also been facing international sanctions over its nuclear programme. The parts of the country most severely influenced by the crisis are towns along the border with China, where smuggling was a huge earner for many. Additionally, the price of corn, which is the main source of nutrition in rural China has risen significantly, leaving a lot of people starving.
I think the situation that the Korean people have found themselves in, due to the incompetence of their government is regrettable. I hope that with foreign aid the problems will be resolved soon.

OdpowiedzUsuńWith the regime like the North Korea, international aid will end up in the pockets of communist dignitaries so there isn't much point in that. Maybe this is a chance for a change in this godforsaken place.
