Personal goal for this term
This semester I would like to expand my active vocabulary. Oftentimes, despite understanding a word's meaning, I would never find myself using it while speaking or writing. This problem may be partially caused by the fact that for the last few months, I have been compiling a list of all of the unknown English words I had heard, or read, along with their meanings, without actually learning and revising the words. This has resulted in the list growing to monstrous sizes and containing around 800 words, some of which I managed to learn, but most I only vaguely remember and never actively use. I hope to eliminate this problem by clearing known expressions from the list and learning at least ten words from it every day. Additionally, I'd like to implement some of them into my weekly blog posts. Furthermore, I'd like to start reading books in their original English versions to get familiar with writing styles and broaden my vocabulary.
How on earth did you manage to compile a list of 800 words?!
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm not sure what you mean by learning but the only way to move the words from passive to active vocabulary is to use them. So the idea to use your blog posts is a good one. As long as you write your blog systematically, of course ;-)
